What is the effect of temperature on the curing time of mold silicone?

Time:2024-12-19 Views:135
Mold silicone is divided into condensation mold silicone and addition mold silicone, both of which can be used to make molds. To know the effect of temperature on the curing time of mold silicone, you might as well start from the physical properties between them.
Condensation mold silicone is composed of AB two-component, and component B contains organic tin catalyst. It is a room temperature vulcanized silicone, and temperature has a great influence on its silicone curing and molding. For example, if the indoor temperature is 25 degrees and the operation time is half an hour, the curing time is usually about 3-5 hours. If the indoor temperature is 20 degrees or below, and the indoor temperature does not reach 25 degrees, the curing time will be delayed by half an hour or more than 1 hour. If the indoor temperature is 30 degrees or above on the same day, the curing time of silicone will be accelerated by half an hour or more than 1 hour, and its operation time will be shortened accordingly.
Addition mold silicone is composed of AB two-component, and component B contains platinum catalyst. Addition mold silicone is both room temperature vulcanized silicone and can be heated for curing and molding. Under room temperature vulcanization conditions, the effect of temperature on addition mold silicone is the same as that on condensation mold silicone. The second molding condition is heating and curing because addition mold silicone has high high temperature resistance and strength. It can withstand high temperatures of 200-300 degrees. The heating and curing time is related to the thickness and temperature of the product. For example, a 2MM thick rubber block can be cured in half an hour when heated to 70 degrees, and it can be cured in more than 20 seconds when heated to 120 degrees.
This is why manufacturers will ask sellers about the indoor temperature of the day, which is also convenient for them to have a reference for debugging silicone in the future. So when operating silicone at room temperature, what can be done to adjust the silicone due to weather reasons? Is the silicone curing time too fast or slow? Condensation mold silicone can be cured by adjusting the curing agent ratio. The conventional ratio is 2%. If the curing agent is added less, the operation time can be delayed, and its curing time will also be delayed. It is recommended that the ratio should not be less than 1%. If the curing agent is added more, the operation time will be shortened, which can accelerate the curing of silicone. The addition should not exceed 4%.
Of course, the higher the temperature, the shorter the silicone operation time and the faster the curing time. On the contrary, the lower the temperature, the longer the silicone operation time and the longer the curing time.
